DESCRIPTION:📅 Date:May 2025 (Exact date to be confirmed) \n🕒 Time:2-hour session (Time to be announced) \n📍 Location:Virtual (Zoom)🔗 Register Here \nThe Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF)\, in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)\, will host a virtual dialogue to raise awareness and foster capacity development among parliamentary staff on the interlinkages between climate change and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Southern Africa. \nThis event is part of the ongoing SRHR\, HIV and AIDS Governance Project (2023–2026)\, supported by the Swedish Government\, and aims to integrate gender-responsive climate action into parliamentary strategies. \n\n🎯 Objectives\n\n\nPresent data and examples of how climate change impacts SRHR\, especially among women\, girls\, and marginalized communities. \n\n\nFacilitate sharing of experiences\, lessons learned\, and challenges across SADC Parliaments. \n\n\nExplore barriers and opportunities for parliamentary engagement on SRHR and climate change. \n\n\nStrengthen the role of SRHR researchers as knowledge brokers and technical advisers. \n\n\nIdentify opportunities for follow-up action\, including technical support and joint research. \n\n\n👥 Target Audience\nParliamentary staff and SRHR researchers from SADC member countries:Angola\, Botswana\, DRC\, Eswatini\, Lesotho\, Madagascar\, Malawi\, Mauritius\, Mozambique\, Namibia\, Seychelles\, South Africa\, Zambia\, and Zimbabwe. \n🌐 Languages\nEnglish\, with simultaneous interpretation in French and Portuguese. \n📌 Expected Outcomes\n\n\nIncreased awareness of SRHR vulnerabilities under climate stress. \n\n\nClearer understanding of how parliaments can respond through legislation and budgeting. \n\n\nIdentification of immediate challenges and opportunities. \n\n\nCreation of a short summary report to inform future regional programming. \n\n\n📢 Organized by\nSADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF)Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)
